Portsmouth remains undefeated in D-2 girls’ lacrosse
Patriots overwhelm Mt. Hope, 17-3
PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth High girls’ varsity lacrosse team kept on its winning ways with an impressive 17-3 win against Mt. Hope at home on Thursday, May 12.
The victory improved the Division II-leading Patriots’ record to 9-0. Their only loss came in a non-league game against Lincoln School on May 4, in which the Lynx came out with a 18-9 win.
Head coach Amelia McHugh called the game against Mt. Hope “the best game we have played as a team. We had 17 goals and 15 assists. That’s a team (and) everything I could ever ask for.”
Elly Skeels and Grace Boneu led their team on offense with four goals apiece.
Also contributing were Emilie Bobola, Kaitlin Roche, Talus Nightengale, and Nora Cooney (two goals each); and Margaux Boneu and Avery Roman (one goal apiece)
Boneu led the Patriots with five assists. Roche added four, Cooney had three, Skeels had two, and Nightengale had one.
Emmy O'Connor made seven saves in net.
Mt. Hope’s goals were scored by Maria Lacey (two) and Reyn Ferris.

The Patriots will celebrate Senior Night during its home game against Narragansett at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 16.
