A Night of Sea Shanties & Food with David Coffin

Posted

Join us for a fun night of food, live music, and sea shanties! On Friday, August 5 at 6pm the night will begin with live music from local bluegrass band, Four Bridges. Hailing from nearby Massachusetts, Four Bridges is a hard driving, harmony singing acoustical foursome. They perform original music in addition to the styles of Americana, country and folk with influences ranging from rock n' roll and blues to ragtime. While you listen to the song stylings of Four Bridges, enjoy brat/hot dogs with all the fixings from CP Catering in Bristol R.I.
David Coffin is an American folk singer based in Gloucester, Massachusetts specializing in early music and sea-shanties, ballads and the other songs of sailors. He is the song leader for the Revels music programs in Cambridge. Join us as he teaches us the work songs that helped sailors haul and heave together to get their jobs done. A fun night for all, especially families!
Tickets are $40, $35 for Linden Place members. Family pack pricing includes one child free for each paid adult ticket. Tickets include one brat/hot dog, one beer or cold drink, chips and sides. Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
