A three-day festival in Portsmouth

The St. Barnabas parish will host the 50th anniversary of its popular parish festival with food, carnival games and rides and a live auction on Sunday at 1 p.m. Live music is at 6 p.m. Friday (Timeless), Saturday at noon (Country Wild Heart) and Saturday at 6 p.m. (The Down City Band). Kids can “Meet the Reptiles” at 3 p.m. Saturday, bingo is at 6:30 p.m. Saturday with all cash prizes, and the procession is at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday.

WHAT: 50th Parish Festival

WHEN: Friday, June 20, from 5 to 10 p.m.; Saturday, June 21, from noon to 10 p.m.; and Sunday, June 22, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

WHERE: St. Barnabas Church grounds, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
