Barrington 12U team advances to winner’s bracket final

Barrington defeats Pawtucket 13-3

The Barrington 12U Majors All Star team defeated Pawtucket, 13-3, in a winner’s bracket game on Tuesday night, June 25.

A double by Seb Hyams on an 0-2 count put Barrington the scoreboard in the first inning. Barrington added a run in the second on a single by Austin Daley. And Barrington scored seven runs in the third inning to blow the game open.

Luke Fluet doubled and drove in a run, Hyams singled and drove in a run, and Chase Corcoran tripled and knocked in a run. Will Coutant drew a walk and scored a run, while Andrew Viele singled and drove in a run. An error scored one more run and Xavier Maddox hit into a fielder’s choice that drove in another run. 

Coutant started the game on the mound for Barrington. The righty gave up four hits and two runs, both unearned, over three innings. He struck out four and walked five. 

Hyams pitched in relief for Barrington. 

Barrington tallied 11 hits. Hyams led Barrington with three RBIs on two hits. Mahir Salahuddin, Daley and Chase also had two hits each — Salahuddin’s blasts hit the fence on the fly. 

Barrington is scheduled to play in the winner’s bracket final on Monday, July 1 at 5:45 p.m. Barrington will play against the winner of the Newport vs. Bristol/Warren game.

Other All Star action

The Barrington 11U All Stars lost a tough 7-0 game to Bristol/Warren on Tuesday night. Michael McGovern kept Barrington in the game with a great pitching performance. Bristol/Warren cracked open the game with four runs in the fifth inning. Barrington looks to bounce back at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, July 27 when they take on Portsmouth again at Sherman Field in Portsmouth.

The Barrington Seniors Softball All Star team lost to Portsmouth 26-7 on Tuesday night and will play a deciding game against Portsmouth on Wednesday, June 26.
