Kendall Fisher smashed a home run over the left field fence, scored two runs, and pitched a complete game two-hitter, leading the Barrington High School softball team to an 11-1 victory over Scituate on Thursday, May 29.

Fisher, a senior for the Eagles, did not allow a single earned run in the Division II elimination bracket playoff game. She scattered two hits and struck out five Spartan hitters.

Fisher and the Eagles advanced to a game against East Greenwich on Sunday, June 1. The Rhode Island Interscholastic League website did not list the time or location for the game.

Scituate scored first in Thursday’s game, as Isabella Defusco scored on a sacrifice fly.

The Spartans held the 1-0 advantage through the start of the fourth inning when Fisher helped her own cause and ripped a solo home run over the left field fence. It was Fisher’s first homer of the season.

The Eagles pulled ahead in the bottom of the fifth inning. Maya Etheridge provided a key blast, crushing a two-run home run over the left field fence.

Ruby Ciummo also blasted a home run for the Eagles. Ciummo finished 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored. Etheridge was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. Grace Fontaine went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. Fisher finished the game 3-for-4 with the home run, a double and two runs scored.

The Eagles tallied 13 runs in the playoff victory. Alyssa Conaty and Cora Floriani also had multiple-hit performances for Barrington.
