Barrington boys cruise to division track championship

Eagles outscore the competition en route to decisive win

The Barrington High School boys track team won the Eastern Division Track Championship on Saturday afternoon. 

The Eagles scored an impressive 196.6 points, while second place Portsmouth finished with 122 points and third place Rogers scored 95 points. 

Ethan Knight was a division champ in a pair of events — the sophomore won the 110 hurdles and the 300 hurdles. Asher Robbins won the hammer throw and Nate Greenberg won the 200 and finished second in the 100-meter race. 

Brandon Piedade won the 3,000-meter race and Barrington also had two relay teams win their events — the 4x800-meter relay team of Holden Vaughan, Charlie Stockwell, Myles Napolitano, and Andrew Rego, and the 4x100-meter relay team of Nate Greenberg, Andrew Blazewicz, Iain DeBoth, and Jackson O'Connor.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
