Barrington boys cruise to Headley Division Championship

The Barrington High School boys indoor track team dominated the Headley Division Championship on Tuesday night, Jan. 21.

The Eagles scored 228 points, well ahead of second-place Cumberland, which finished with 77 points, and Smithfield, which scored 51.

Barrington won nine out of the 14 events at the meet, including all three relay events. 

The team of Will DiGiacomo, Grady Hazlett, Michael Chun and Henry Stockwell raced to a first place finish in the 4x400-meter relay. They crossed the line with a time of 3:40.81.

DiGiacomo teamed up with Bobby Wind, Charly Potter and Patrick Trainor to win the 4x200-meter relay. The team clocked a time of 1:33.23.

Brooks Mello, Marius Bonard, Michael Chun and Daniel Chun won the 4x800-meter relay event with a time of 8:47.31.

Trainor and Wind also won two individual events each at the division championship meet. 

Trainor, a junior, cruised to a first place finish in the 55-meter race. Trainor clocked a time of 6.73 seconds. He also won the long jump event — his top distance was 21 feet, one inch. 

Wind, a senior, won the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.82 seconds. Wind also won the 300-meter race with a time of 37.04 seconds. 

Stockwell, in addition to running a leg of the 4x400-meter relay, also won the 600-meter race. 

Myles Napolitano won the 1,500-meter race with a time of 4:08.32.

Eleven teams competed in the division championship meet.
