The Barrington High School boys soccer team celebrated a 3-0 victory over Mt. Hope on Thursday, Sept. 14. That marked the Eagles’ first win of the season — the team’s record is currently 1-1-2.
Barrington battled Moses Brown to a 2-2 tie in the first league match. The Eagles fell to North Kingstown, 1-2, at Victory Field, but bounced back with the lopsided win over the Huskies.
On Saturday, Barrington played Portsmouth to a 0-0 tie.
The Eagles have scored six goals in the first four games of the season — scoring is coming from multiple players, including sophomores George Zukhov, Evan Memoji and Becket Capizzo, junior Colin Hope and senior Iain DeBoth.
The team has allowed just four goals in the first four games. Barrington High School Coach Don Denham said goalkeepers Liam Helfrich and George Bryson have been solid in net.
“The defense has been the team's best area of play,” Coach Denham wrote in an email to the Barrington Times. “Iain Deboth, Hayden Knight, Doug Langurand all seniors have been steady and difficult to score on. Becket Capizzo, George Kenny and Ryan Martin have been playing the fourth defensive role together.”
The Eagles are scheduled to play at South Kingstown on Tuesday, Sept. 19 and will host Tolman on Saturday at noon.
