Barrington celebrates the state's first 'floodable' park

Officials host special event at Walker Farm

The Town of Barrington and community partners celebrated the revitalization of Walker Farm on last weekend.

The celebration featured a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new viewing platform, followed by music and complimentary refreshments.

Federal, state, and locally funded restoration efforts have transformed Walker Farm into Rhode Island's first “floodable” coastal park, a model for sustainable shoreline management,” stated a press release from the town.

This event celebrated the park's new viewing platform, salt marsh preserve, and a dock for rowing and adaptive paddling.
