Barrington girls are perfect in track dual meets
Eagles push past Mariners and Sentinels
The Barrington High School girls indoor track team improved to 8-0 in dual meets after defeating Narragansett 98-11 and Smithfield 63-46 last week.
Barrington athletes won several individual events. Kate Pearse won the 300-meter race, Helena Hyde won the high jump, and the Eagles’ team of Caroline Reznik, Charlotte Farrell, Indie Lamb and Kate Pearse won the 4x400-meter relay event.
Evelyn Lefort was tops in the 1,500-meter race and also won the 1,000. Farrell, Roxanna Mohammadi, Pearse and Evelyn Kenny won the 4x200-meter relay.
Sara Chang led a Barrington sweep of the 3,000-meter race. She was followed by Sophie Halloran, Estelle Mentzer and Leyla Bac.
According to Barrington High School Coach Ed Roskiewicz, the Eagles have a number of athletes at or near the top of the Rhode Island State Performance list.
Hyde is ranked number one in the high jump and Pearse is third in the 300. Indie Lamb is ranked sixth in the 600 and the Eagles’ 4 x 400 relay (Lamb, Farrell, Reznik and Pearse) is currently ranked fourth.
The Eagles are scheduled to compete in the World Trophy Invitational this Saturday.
