The Barrington High School girls tennis team defeated Cumberland 4-0 in the first round of the playoffs on Monday and will play against Wheeler in the semifinals.

Three Barrington singles players led the way against Cumberland. The Eagles' Caroline Maher, Kate Robertson and Sonya Pareek each won their singles matches, while the team of Alison Kostas and Leila Beers captured victory at second doubles.

The Eagles are scheduled to play against Wheeler in the semifinals. The location and time of the semifinals match had not yet been released.

The playoff-opening victory followed a lopsided win over over North Kingstown on Friday, 7-0.
