The Barrington High School boys basketball team outscored Smithfield 52-21 in the second half and rolled to an 85-45 victory on Monday night, Dec. 19.

Matt Raffa got Barrington off to a strong, scoring 17 of his 25 points in the first half. Nick Scandura took over from there and scored 18 of his game-high 26 in the final 16 minutes of play.

Sean Bonneau scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half. All 11 Barrington players scored. The Eagles improved to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in league play. Barrington travels to Westerly on Wednesday night.

Barrington tops Rocky Hill

Scandura scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Eagles to a 51-38 victory over Rocky Hill in the St. Andrew’s Holiday Classic over the weekend. Scandura scored 14 points in the first half and nine in the second to pace the Eagles’ offense. Bonneau added 14 points, including four three-pointers, and Evan Anderson finished with seven points and was active on the defensive end of the court.

Owen Pfeffer was stellar running the point, filling in for the injured Matt Raffa. Pfeffer also scored five points, and Matt Leonard rounded out the scoring with two points. “Dan Coogan continues to do an exceptional job in the ‘Warrior’ position on defense,” said Barrington High School Coach Mike Raffa.

Barrington was tied at the half, but broke the game open with strong defense in the second half, outscoring the Mariners 24-11 over the final 16 minutes.
