The Eagles won twice during the East Bay Holiday Tournament.
Barrington opened the tournament with a 59-21 win over St. Raphael Academy on Friday, Dec. 27, and then knocked off Middletown 70-50 on Saturday, Dec. 28.
The tournament wins, coupled with a 53-44 overtime victory against East Providence on Thursday, Dec. 26, pushed Barrington’s record to 4-1 in the division and 5-1 overall.
Colin McDermott played a key role in the Eagles’ victory over Middletown. McDermott’s defense helped limit the Islanders’ leading scorer to two points after 24 minutes of play. Meanwhile, Caleb Satisfield led the Eagles’ offense with 16 points, while Ryan Rigamonti finished with 12 points and Colin Appleyard dropped in 10. Gabe Tostes knocked down three three-pointers.
Joell Sanchez and Ryan Johnson led Middletown with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
The Eagles opened the holiday tournament with a lopsided win over St. Raphael’s. Nine Barrington players finished in the scoring column: Rigamonti had 14, Satisfield finished with 11, Appleyard had 10, McDermott had seven, Ryan Realejo finished with six, Owen Pfeffer dropped in five, and Alex Anderson, Colton Glass and Jack Marley each scored two.
Overtime win
Barrington overcame a 23-15 halftime deficit before defeating East Providence 53-44 in overtime. Rigamonti scored nine of his game high 20 points in the third quarter to get the Eagles back in the contest.
In the overtime period, the visiting Eagles outscored the Townies 14-5. Rigamonti started things off with a basket in the paint. Satifield's three-point field goal with 2:40 remaining increased Barrington's lead to 44-40, and McDermott's two free throws extended the lead to 46-40. Pfeffer's steal and basket with 1:21 remaining pushed the lead back to six, and Satisfield scored the Eagles’ final two baskets, including a break-away dunk to seal the win. Satisfield finished with 15 points, while McDermott added 13.
Barrington next travels to Mount Pleasant on Friday, Jan. 3 for a 6 p.m. start.
