It was a great start to the dual meet season for the Barrington High School girls indoor track team.
The Eagles picked up a pair of wins, defeating Mt. Hope, 70-39, and Pilgrim, 89-20. In addition, Barrington’s Helena Hyde set a new school record in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5 feet, 4 inches on her first attempt. According to the Barrington coaches, Hyde’s jump was the best in the state on the opening night for dual meets.
Kate Pearse won the 300-meter race and set a new personal best time of 43.88 seconds.
Kitty Wang won the shot put with a throw of 29 feet, 8.25 inches, and Sara Chang won the 3,000-meter race with a time of 11:41.00.
Josie Owens won the 55-meter high hurdles and Natalie Antonio was tops in the weight throw. Meanwhile, the team of Charlotte Farrell, Pearse, Ella Reagan and Indie Lamb won the 4x400-meter relay event.
Other strong performances were turned in by Evelyn Lefort in the 1,500-meter race, Lamb in the 600, Farrell in the 300, Ginerva Girardello in the 1,000 and 1,500, and Reagan in the 600.
