Barrington High School track team aims to defend state title

Coach Barrass: ‘the depth is what is part of what makes this program strong’

The Barrington High School boys track and field team looks to be very competitive in the state again this outdoor season.

The Eagles are coming off of winning indoor and outdoor State Championship performances in 2024, and a close runner-up team performance to LaSalle during the 2025 indoor season. Barrington's goal for the outdoor season is to defend its 2024 outdoor state title.

Coaches are Robyn McFetters in the throws, Mike Katz in the distance events, and Bill Barrass in the sprints, jumps, and hurdle events.

“We have 110 on the roster for the season, and the depth is what is part of what makes this program strong,” said Coach Barrass.

“Along with last year's team, this is the best that Barrington Track and Field has ever been. We are a very well-balanced team, with state-level scorers in every event type. This is a rare quality as you compare this team to our teams in the past, and to many other teams in the state right now. It is a testament to our athletes' dedication and hard work, and excellent student-athlete leadership in each of our event groups.”

The team will be competing in the Eastern Division and in Class B, middle-sized schools. Barrington is seeded at the top of both the division and the class.

“Our focus throughout the season will be on the June 7 State Meet, and the competition with powerhouse LaSalle Academy,” Barrass said. “Bishop Hendricken, though not close to us during the indoor season, will also be in contention for the outdoor team championship.”

Barrington's top performers this outdoor season are:

• Senior Captain Bobby Wind in the 110 and 300 hurdles; he is indoor hurdle State Champion and all-time indoor hurdle state record-holder

• Junior Patrick Trainor, returning State Champion in the long jump, and indoor All-State sprinter

• Junior Caleb Satisfield, returning runner-up in the long jump, and indoor State Champion in the high jump

• Senior Captain Charly Potter, returning All-State javelin thrower

• Senior Captain Will DiGiacomo, returning All-State in the 400 meters

• Senior Captain Myles Napolitano, returning state scorer in the 1500

• Junior Captain Joe Adams, returning All-State discus and scorer in the hammer throw

• 4x800, 4x100, and 4x400 teams were All-State performers in the 2024 meet, and this season are capable of matching those performances.

“Our strong 4x800 team was State Champ during the indoor season,” Barrass said.

“In addition, we have a large number of athletes who will be filling critical roles either on those relay teams or striving to earn individual points in the top 8 places at states. These include seniors Fritz Muehlbauer, Marius Bonard, Captain Daniel Chun, Michael Chun, Jared Lesk, Shea Parish, Aidan Chopin, Captain Aden Memoli, as well as juniors Grady Hazlett and Henry Stockwell, and sophomore Brooks Mello.”
