The Barrington Police Department has established a new
Facebook page and
Twitter account in an effort to enhance its "community policing partnership."
In a statement to the press, Barrington Police Chief John LaCross said the online presence will allow the department the opportunity to better interact with the public and provide more information.
"Our new Facebook page and Twitter account offer the men and women of this department an opportunity to familiarize you with important event updates, crime related trends, traffic concerns and the specialized services that we provide all of which are linked to the department’s website," he wrote.
School resource officer Josh Melo will reportedly oversee the social media accounts.
"…I encourage your input for improvement as the men and women of this department strive to provide the best quality and professional services available to you," wrote the chief.
Recent posts on the department's Facebook page include a
report on larcenies from motor vehicles that occurred last night, Dec. 8, and some images of the suspect in the robbery of the Wireless Zone store in the Barrington Shopping Center.
The Barrington Police Department also has a
page on the town's website.
