Barrington Police are investigating a break-in that occurred at the American Legion Post 8 building last week.

A person called police on Tuesday, April 8 and reported that someone had broken into the building, which is located near the end of Legion Way. Police responded to the building at about 5 p.m. and found evidence of forced entry — a door leading to the basement was damaged.

Police officers first checked to see if anyone was inside the building. It was unoccupied, police said.

Legion members reported approximately $300 missing from the register. A jar containing tips was still there. Legion members told police the last day someone had been inside the building was Friday, April 4.
