Youth tackle football returns to Barrington after three-year hiatus

Barrington Pop Warner football and cheer teams are ready to kick off the 2021 fall season with games this Sunday, Aug. 29. The games will be played at Barrington High School’s Victory Field.

Barrington’s U10 team, led by head coach Ty Paup, will play against Seekonk at noon, while the U12 Barrington team will play against Seekonk at 1:30 p.m. Barrington’s U12 team is led by head coach Stefan Marszalek.

Barrington Pop Warner is also fielding three cheer teams this season.

Barrington Pop Warner had not fielded any youth tackle football teams for a few years, but bounced back last spring with three teams — U10, U12, and U14.

Meanwhile, Barrington also runs a flag football program. In the spring, more than 270 boys and girls participated in either tackle or flag football in Barrington, and league officials are hoping to see those participation numbers continue to climb.

Barrington Pop Warner tackle teams compete in the RISMA Pop Warner league, which includes teams from across the region. Games start this Sunday and will continue through the fall.
