The Little League All-Star season has started.

In Barrington, there are seven All-Star teams — five in baseball and two in softball. Following is an update on Barrington’s teams:

• Minors Division Softball — Barrington defeated Portsmouth, 21-11, on Tuesday night at Davidson Field in Portsmouth. Barrington opened a commanding lead early in the game, but Portsmouth mounted a third-inning rally and cut the lead to 11-8. Barrington’s offense continued to manufacture runs in the fourth and fifth innings, and the game was called in the bottom of the fifth because of the 10-run rule. Audrey Paxton pitched the complete game for Barrington, and nearly every player in the Barrington lineup scored a run.

• Majors Division Softball — For the first time in years, Barrington was able to field a Majors Division softball All-Star team. The local girls faced a tough Portsmouth team to open the District II tournament, losing 15-2. Barrington’s Riley Fogarty struck out six Portsmouth batters and Avery Judge threw out several girls attempting to steal bases. In the next game, Barrington mounted a comeback against Newport but came up just short, losing 14-12. Fogarty pitched well for Barrington and Regan Pires did a nice job in relief. Emily Peluso recorded five outs at first base and Judge was solid behind the plate, stopping any attempts to steal home. Gianna Brucato led the offensive attack for Barrington, going 3-for-4, while Peluso, Judge, Hero Bremer and Grace Fontaine also had big hits.

• Ron Silva All Stars Baseball — Barrington opened the tournament with a 14-1 victory over Portsmouth on Monday night at Sherwood Field. Luchi Floriani pitched well for Barrington, striking out 16 batters in 5 and two-thirds innings. Jackson Gill closed out the game, striking out another Portsmouth batter. Ben Claussen led the offensive attack, driving in three runs on two hits. Barrington will next play against Darlington on Thursday, July 8.

• Majors Division Baseball — Barrington opened the district tournament with a 3-1 loss to Rumford on Monday night. Barrington’s Finn LoVerme pitched well while James Palmeiri made a key catch in left field, and Brooks Mello and Anthony Fede made solid defensive plays at third base and shortstop, respectively. Barrington fell behind early, but battled back to score a run in the fourth inning. Anthony Fede singled and Henry Alfonso drove him in with a single. Barrington threatened with runners on second and third, but was unable to plate the runs. Barrington rallied in the bottom of the sixth inning when Alfonso singled and Barrington then managed to load the bases. Unfortunately, Barrington was unable to score any runs. Barrington will play against Little Compton in an elimination bracket game on Wednesday, June 30 at 5:45 p.m. The game will be played in Little Compton.

• Senior Division Baseball — Barrington won its first two games in the District II bracket. On Sunday night, Barrington defeated Rumford 15-0. A number of players contributed with multiple hits, while Will McConaghy and Cole Kepner shared pitching duties. The opening round victory propelled Barrington into a showdown with Pineview on Monday night. Barrington won, 4-3, with a walk-off sacrifice fly by Connor Marley to score Ryan Machado, who tagged up at third and sprinted home in time to score the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Matt Davis, McConaghy and Ben Nowinski pitched for Barrington. Grant Culton crushed a deep hit that drove in two runs that tied the score at 3-3 late in the game. Barrington is scheduled to play against Pineview in a winner's bracket final on Wednesday, June 30 at Barrington High School at 5:45 p.m.

• 9-10-11 Division Baseball — Barrington is slated to play on July 8 against the winner of the Portsmouth vs. Bristol game.

• Juniors Division Baseball — Barrington will play at Darlington on July 6 at 5:45 p.m.
