A team of sixth-graders from Barrington won the 2024 Soaring Rights Classic basketball tournament, held in Foxboro, Mass. last weekend.

Barrington’s Sixth Grade Gold Team went undefeated in the tournament, defeating Norton (Mass.) 62-31 in the finals. The local team opened the tournament with a win over Sharon (Mass.) 45-36, and then crushed Lincoln Sudbury, 51-9. In their third game, the Barrington boys beat Swansea (Mass.) 42-11.

Barrington coaches said Xavier Maddox helped the team cruise to victory by controlling the floor while leading the team in scoring. They said Will DiSalvo led the team in rebounds and Sawyer Crane led the team in assists, while Jake Guilbeault led the team in steals and shut down the opposing team's best player in the championship game.

Sixth Grade Gold Team roster: Seb Hyams, Chase Corcoran, Andrew Viele, Xavier Maddox, Jake Guilbeault, Will DiSalvo, Wes Root, Sam Leffers, Sawyer Crane and Dylan Piette. Andre Stanley is head coach.
