Barrington's proposed ballfield ban for dogs on tonight's council agenda

Town council will also decide on parking restrictions near BHS

Posted

The Barrington Town Council is expected to vote on a pair of proposed ordinances tonight — one would ban dogs (on-leash and off) from ballfields, while the other would restrict parking on some roads near the high school.

The proposed ordinance amendment would ban dogs “on any Town-owned park or recreation area during any time that such park or recreation area has been approved by the Town for use by any sports league, group, or other association.”

The ordinance would apply to dogs on-leash and off-leash. Currently, there is a leash law requiring dogs be kept on-leash when they are on public property.

Also on the agenda for tonight's council meeting is a proposed ordinance that, if approved, would create a three-hour time limit for any vehicles parked on Cherry Lane, Tiffany Circle and Priscilla Drive. The parking restriction would be in effect between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. during school days. The proposed ordinance stems from a situation where BHS students were parking on those streets during school days because the student lot was full.

The Barrington Town Council meeting is tonight, Monday, June 2, at the Barrington Town Hall. It will begin at 6:30 with a Spencer Trust meeting, followed by the town council business.
