Eagles face off against Quakers in semifinals

The Barrington High School field hockey team shut out North Kingstown, 2-0, in the Division 1 playoff quarterfinal on Friday night, Oct. 25. 

Emma Mueller scored Barrington’s first goal of the game, and Alandra Vicioso scored the second goal. Meanwhile, goalie Katie McAdams stopped all four shots she faced from the Skippers.

The victory propelled Barrington into a semifinals showdown against Moses Brown on Tuesday night, Oct. 29. The Quakers finished the regular season with a 13-0 record and allowed just four goals. The Eagles finished with a 6-7 record in Division 1 standings.

In its final regular season game, Barrington lost to the Quakers 4-1. Shelby Gasbarro scored the Eagles’ goal off an assist from Ava Anderson. Meanwhile, Emily Horn, Roxanna Mohammadi and Holly Moscrop led the Eagles’ defensive effort. McAdams made 12 saves in net for Barrington.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far.
