The Barrington High School boys basketball team lost to undefeated LaSalle Academy 73-45 in a home game on Monday night, Jan. 24, and then fell to East Providence 51-48 on Wednesday, Jan. 26.
Against LaSalle, Ethan Coutu and Nick Scandura led the Eagles in scoring — Coutu finished with eight while Scandura had seven. Jack Abadi, Dan Coogan, Gabe Tanous, Matt Raffa, Will DiGiacomo, Quinn McNamara, Andrew Madden and Quinn Murphy also finished in the scoring column.
Against East Providence, Raffa led Barrington with 17 points, while Scandura finished with nine and Coutu and Dan Coogan added eight points each.
The losses followed a pair of wins for Barrington. The Eagles beat East Greenwich 78-58 on Tuesday, Jan. 18, and knocked off Cranston East 55-50 on Friday, Jan. 21.
Raffa led the Eagles with 30 points in the win over East Greenwich, while Coutu dropped in 13 and Tanous had 12. Raffa scored 17 in the victory over Cranston East and Scandura tallied 11. Coutu added 10.
Girls basketball
The Eagles improved to 8-1 after defeating Classical 46-40 on Friday, Jan. 21. Sophomore Maddie Gill led all scorers with 22 points, including a pair of three-pointers. Mady Calhoun finished with nine points and Isys Dunphy added eight. Caroline McConaghy knocked down a three-pointer and finished with five points.
Barrington also ran past East Greenwich 71-45 on Wednesday, Jan. 19. Gill and Calhoun scored 20 points each and Dunphy finished with 12. Riley Graveline scored eight in the victory.
