Bicyclist avoids serious injury after colliding with vehicle

Cars and bicycles were involved in a pair of police incidents in Barrington last week.

On Tuesday, Aug. 24, police received a 911 call at about 6:45 p.m. for an accident involving a motor vehicle and a bicyclist.

Police said the vehicle and bicyclist were both traveling north on Sowams Road approaching Wallis Avenue. The motorist turned onto Wallis Avenue, police said, and the bicyclist slammed into the side of the vehicle. Police said the bicyclist was thrown over the vehicle. Police said the bicyclist injured his finger in the accident.

The motorist told police the bicyclist was traveling too fast. No one was charged.

On Sunday, Aug. 29, police investigated a road rage incident involving a bicyclist and motorist. The incident started when the motorist drove past the bicyclist on Federal Road — the bicyclist believed the truck passed him too closely and he later threw a drink at the motorist; the motorist allegedly yelled at the bicyclist. Both men stopped into the station report the incident — no one was charged.
