Bristol Police: Shoplifting, and a laser pointer aimed at airplanes

Tuesday, March 18

Two people were taken into custody and charged with shoplifting after officers were called to Metacom Avenue at 11:18 a.m. charged were Stephanie Scuilla, 35, of 21 Goulart Ave., Bristol, and Denise Scuilla, 62, of 21 Goulart Ave., Bristol. They were both brought to the station and processed.

An officer investigated a Toyota on Mt. Hope Avenue with cloth covering all the windows, but found no problems.

Officers served a warrant for a disorderly conduct charge and took into custody Nicole P. Ward, 34, of 274 State St., Apt. 4, Bristol. She was processed at the station and released.

Wednesday, March 19

Someone reported a possible homeless encampment in woods west of Sunshine Oil along Franklin Street.

Officers intervened in a domestic dispute inside Colt State Park at 2:41 p.m., but it was strictly verbal.

Thursday, March 20

Officers responded to Primrose Drive to disperse someone from a private residence at 12:04 p.m.

A caller from Roosevelt Drive reported two women trying to extort money from him.

A dob bite was reported on Cottage Street at 4:26 p.m.

A Church Street caller reported that an evicted neighbor kept driving by the house.

A caller from a State Street establishment reported that a customer walked out without paying their tab at 8:41 p.m.

A suspicious male was dispersed from the south lot at police headquarters at 10:40 p.m.

Friday, March 21

Officers were called to Roger Williams University to issue a no-trespass order and remove someone from the campus at 8:03 a.m.

Officers were called to a domestic dispute on Tilbury Drive at 9:55 a.m.

A Third Street resident reported a missing trash bin at 2:30 p.m.

A caller reported juveniles fighting by the gazebo on the Town Common at 5:11 p.m. There was no active disturbance when officers arrived.

Officers were called to a domestic disturbance (verbal only) on Harrison Street at 8:21 p.m.

Saturday, March 22

Sam D. Sylvaria, 19, of Warren, was charged with shoplifting.

At 9:40 a.m., a Collins Street resident reported that items went missing from his residence overnight. Rescue was called to the scene.

There was a report of juveniles on bicycles ringing doorbells in the area of Curtis Road at 11:10 a.m.

A loud house party was reported on Charles Street at 3:48 p.m.

Officers were called to investigate a male in the area of Ferry Road and Fairview Drive at 5:59 p.m. They called RWU Public Safety to transport him back to campus.

A white Audi was reported to be driving at a high rate of speed in Colt State Park at 7:36 p.m.

Police received a report of loud music and a campfire in a backyard along Goulart Avenue at 9:14 p.m. They found a group of people smoking in the backyard and no problems warranting intervention.

Sunday, March 23

An officer dispersed a vehicle with two occupants from the area of Naomi Street and Dixon Avenue at 12:42 a.m.

An officer dispersed a vehicle with two occupants from the area of Lower Ferry Road at 1:25 a.m.

A State Street resident reported two packages stolen.

An officer euthanized a sick skunk on Hattie Brown Drive at 11:52 a.m.

Matthew S. Sampson, 19, of Warren, R.I., was picked up on a warrant by Warren Police and transferred to Bristol. He was charged with shoplifting, arraigned at the Bristol station, and released.

Rhode Island State Police reported that a party inside Colt State Park was distracting aircraft with a laser pointer at 8:32 p.m. A DEM officer was in the park at the time but could not locate the person.

Officers served a warrant on Chelsea B. Amaral, 36, of 26 St. Elizabeth St., Bristol, at 11:33 p.m. She was charged with disorderly conduct and arraigned in the station before being released.
