PORTSMOUTH — Here are some recent arrests made by the Portsmouth Police Department:

Tuesday, Feb. 11

Kirsten E. Farthing, 34, of 38 Independence Court, was charged with domestic assault after officers responded to her home around 4:30 p.m. for a report of a domestic verbal argument, police said. Officers determined that Farthing had thrown an item at a 35-year-old Portsmouth woman, according to police. 

Wednesday, Feb. 12

Gregory Warren Wetzel, 37, of 20 Main Road, Tiverton, was arrested on Corys Lane shortly before 7:30 p.m. after officers responded to a report of a suspicious man yelling while in the roadway and entering various residential yards, police said. Wetzel displayed visible signs of extreme intoxication and was placed into protective custody before becoming assaultive and resisting officers’ commands, police said. He was also carrying a spring-assisted knife, police said. Wetzel was charged with disorderly conduct (making loud/disturbing noise), and illegal possession of a weapon other than a firearm.

Friday, Feb. 14

Ruth Elizabeth Cook, 38, of 460 Bristol Ferry Road, was charged with two counts of cruelty to or neglect of a child. The arrest was the result of an investigation after police received a report that Cook was leaving her children home alone during the nighttime hours without supervision, according to police. A warrant was authorized and she was arrested shortly before 2 p.m. and transported to Newport County Courthouse pending her arraignment, police said.

Saturday, Feb. 15

Laura Elizabeth Johnston, 50, of 26 Elaine Ave., was arrested on a 2nd District Court bench warrant following a traffic stop on East Main Road at about 4:10 p.m. The warrant was issued for failure to appear for pre-trial on a previous willful trespass charge by the Newport Police Department. Johnston was also charged with driving without an active license, her third offense. She was later transported to the women’s unit at the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranson, police said.

Monday, Feb. 17

Gabrielle Alexis Barton, 25, of 89 Globe Mills Ave. 1, Fall River, was charged with driving under the influence, first offense. Barton was pulled over on Route 24 for a vehicle infraction shortly after 2:30 a.m.
