Christine Mary Ferreira, 100, Bristol

Christine Mary (Amaral) DeCosta Ferreira, 100, passed away on Feb. 15, 2022, at Charlesgate Nursing Center surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Anthony F. De Costa and the late Manuel Ferreira.

She was the mother of Anthony DeCosta Jr. of New Hampshire and Alice Garcia of Florida; grandmother of Elizabeth DeCosta, Daniel DeCosta, Adam DeCosta and Derek Garcia; great-grandmother of Cody DeCosta, Sofia DeCosta, Carmona DeCosta, Logan Garcia, Madison Garcia, Olivia Garcia, Kyle DeCosta and Devin DeCosta. She was the sister of the late Tony Amaral, Manuel Amaral, Sophia H. Wyman, and was the mother-in-law of the late John Garcia.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 330 Wood St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St.. Columba’s Cemetery, Portsmouth.
Arrangements are with the George Lima Funeral Home.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
