Songs of the season will fill the interior of Holy Angels Church on Sunday, Dec. 22, at 5 p.m., in what promises to be an evening that the entire family can enjoy.

Under the direction of Nicholas Rocha, the parish choir presents its nondenominational Christmas service for the community. 

Entitled “Lessons and Carols,” it’s a time to gather and reflect on central spiritual story of Christmas, as told by traditional readings from both Old and New Testaments that are either the prophecies of the Messiah or readings associated with Christ's birth.

Mr. Rocha, who has done much to embellish the music ministry program which he has directed at Holy Angels Church over the years, said the event is open to the public free of charge.

In lieu of admission, non-perishable food donations for the less fortunate will be accepted at the doors of the church before the concert. Complimentary sandwiches and refreshments will follow.  

“The Parish Social Outreach Ministry will distribute the food to the less fortunate in time for Christmas,” said Holy Angels Events Committee member Shawn DeHart. “After the performance, complimentary finger roll sandwiches and desserts will be offered in the Presentation Room adjoining the church.”

This Christmastime event has become increasingly popular, not only among adults, but youngsters as well. 

Choir members include Cathy Alteri, David Carriere, Lilli Carriere, Maria Carriere, Diana Carvalho, Deb Clancy, Barbara Gracie, Marie Mascena, and Joann Smith. Instrumentalists include Wendy Rios Dawber on violin, and Donna O'Malley on organ.
