Concert of sweet harmonies of the Swing Era

The Stone Church Coffee House presents The Vintage Vocal Quartet with the sweet swinging harmonies of the Swing Era.

The quartet sings in four-part harmony while playing piano, guitar, bass and trombone/drums. They are dialed in to the sound of groups like Glenn Miller’s Modernaires, Nat King Cole Trio, Andrews Sisters, and Tommy Dorsey’s Pied Pipers; as well as singers like Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald.

WHAT: Stone Church Coffee House

WHEN: Saturday, April 26, at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:45.

WHERE: First Congregational Church, 300 High St., Bristol

COST: $25; half-price for students, and free for children 5 and under

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
