Stamp Out Hunger, the letter carriers’ annual food drive, will return on Saturday, May 14, after a two-year hiatus caused by Covid restrictions.  

Once again, Barrington letter carriers will do double duty, picking up donated food as they deliver the mail across town. Donations will go directly to Tap-In and be available to those in need during Tap-In’s hours of operation.

Donors are asked to place non-perishable and unexpired food products in a bag and leave it at their mailboxes before the carrier arrives. (Please do not donate products in glass.) The carriers will bring donations to Tap-In. Donations are tax-deductible.

In 2019, Tap-In received nearly 5,400 pounds of food from the community. Organizers hope to do even better this year, given that the sharp increases in food prices have caused increasing food insecurity.  

This year will mark the 30th year the National Association of Letter Carriers has run this food drive as part of its community service efforts. It is the largest one-day food collection event in the country and since its start has collected more than a billion pounds of food that has been distributed to those in need in local communities. 

Tap-In, located in the Peck Center Building at 281 County Road, is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to noon.
