Barrington to battle East Greenwich in semifinals on Oct. 29

The Barrington High School girls tennis team defeated Chariho 4-0 in a quarterfinal playoff match on Thursday, Oct. 24, and advanced to a semifinal showdown against East Greenwich on Tuesday, Oct. 29.

The Eagles finished 16-0 in the regular season and entered the postseason as the number one seed in Division 1. They made quick work of eighth-seeded Chariho on Thursday.

East Greenwich finished the regular season with a 9-6 record and entered the playoffs as the number five seed. The Avengers upset fourth-seeded Narragansett 4-2 in the quarterfinals. 

The semifinals will be played at Barrington High School. The time has not been released yet.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
