Barrington High School defeated Mt. Hope for the seventh consecutive time in the teams' Thanksgiving football series as the visiting Eagles rallied to edge the host Huskies, 22-19, Wednesday night, Nov. 27, in Bristol.

The game was moved up due to impending inclement weather forecast for Thanksgiving morning, November 28.

Barrington improved its overall lead in the series to 22-9.

The seven wins in a row is now the second-longest streak in the matchup dating back 1993. The Eagles previously won eight consecutive holiday meetings from 2007-2014. Barrington also won six straight games from 2000-2005.

Mt. Hope's last victory, 20-19, came in 2016. The Huskies won six of the first seven Thanksgiving meeting betwees the school, following the consolidation of Bristol and Warren Highs, including five straight between 1995-1999.

The difference in the 2024 contest proved to be the point-after attempts following each of the teams' three touchdowns.

Ben Aree made made two kicks for Barrington and the Eagles also completed a two-point conversion, while Mt. Hope made just one. The Huskies missed a PAT and had another blocked by the visitors.

The hosts opened the scoring with a 17-yard JJ Pimental touchdown burst and his point-after kick in the first quarter to take a 7-0 lead.

The guests tied it before the end of the period, also on a short rush by Charly Potter, the first of the Barrington's senior's three scores in the contest.

Mt. Hope again took the lead with a TD in the second quarter, a short toss from quarterback Ethan Martel to Pimental, but the latter's PAT kick failed to leave score 13-7 Huskies.

The teams then exchanged interceptions, including Preston Brodd's for the Huskies, before the intermission, though neither side could capitalize and the margin remained six in favor of Mt. Hope at the break.

The Eagles accounted for the game's next two scores, one touchdown each late in the third period and then another mid-way through the fourth to build a 22-13 edge.

Barrington kicked for point folowing their third-period TD, a five-yard Potter carry, then made the two following their six in the fourth, appropriately a six-yard Potter run.

The Huskies immediately answered Barrington's score in the final period on a Martel to Evan Rodrigues five-yard pass-and-catch, but the Eagles blocked the PAT to keep it 22-19 with 4:18 to go in the game.

Barrington eventually punted the ball back to Mt. Hope with just about two minutes left. The Huskies, however, couldn't get into scoring range before the final whistle.

For Barrington, the victory was just its second of the fall as the Eagles finished with a 2-7 overall record. For Mt. Hope, its 2024 season ended with a 6-4 overall record.
