Kitty Wang wins two events as Barrington cruises to victory

The Barrington High School girls outdoor track team celebrated wins over Portsmouth (114.5-39.5) and Mt. Hope (108-46) during a dual meet on Monday, April 21 at Portsmouth High School. 

Kitty Wang put forth an impressive meet, winning the shot put and the discus. 

The Eagles dominated the 3,000-meter race. Evelyn Lefort won the event, followed by Scarlett Wasinowicz in second, Mia He in third, and Faith Barrass in fourth. 

Barrington competitors finished atop the standings in the hammer throw — Natalie Antonio won the event and Allena Kelly finished second. 

Ellie Donato won the javelin, followed by Ella Martin in second place and Maddie Varone in third. 

Roxanna Mohammadi won the 200-meter race, while Ava Morrissette won the 400, and Charlie Dimery won the 100-meter hurdles. 

Ella Reagan, Ginevra Girardello, Riley Graveline, and Indie Lamb teamed up to win the 4x400-meter relay event. 

Other top-3 Barrington finishers:

• 300-meter hurdles: 2. Lauren Kilpatrick, 3. Dimery

• 800-meters: 2. Indie Lamb

• High jump: 2. Helena Hyde

• 100-meters: 3. Mohammadi

• Triple jump: 2. Ivy Di Lorenzo, 3. Morrissette

• 400-meters: 2. Reagan

• 100-meter hurdles: 2. Maya Shukla

• 200-meters: 3. Di Lorenzo

• 1,500-meters: 2. Sara Chang

• 4x100-meter relay: 2. Barrington (Mohammadi, Gabby Peasley, Dimery and Sophie Dunham)

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
