The Barrington High School boys track team improved to 10-0 in dual meets after defeating Cumberland (97-12) and East Providence (100-9) on Monday night, Jan. 13.

The Eagles swept the top-three spots in a number of individual events — the 3,000-meter race, 55-meter hurdles, 1,000-meters, weight throw, 1,500-meters, and 600-meters.

In the 3,000, Barrington’s Neal Bansal, Connor Curran and Sam Spencer finished first, second and third, respectively.

Bobby Wind won the 55-meter hurdles, followed by Jared Lesk in second place and Grady Hazlett in third.

Michael Chun, Henry Stockwell and Marius Bonard won the top-three spots in the 1,000-meter race, while Joe Adams, Aidan Chopin, and Greg Fitta went one, two, three in the weight throw.

Barrington’s Myles Napolitano won the 1,500-meter race, while Brady Andrew was second and Colby Napolitano was third.

In the 600-meter race, Shea Parish finished first, followed by Daniel Chun in second and Hazlett in third.

Other individual event winners were Adams in the shot put, and Patrick Trainor in the 55-meter dash and the long jump.

The Eagles also won both relay events. The team of Wind, Will DiGiacomo, Charly Potter and Trainor cruised to victory in the 4x200-meter relay, while Parish, Wind, Daniel Chun and Hazlett won the 4x400-meter relay.

World Trophies

The Barrington High School girls and boys indoor track teams sent athletes to compete in the World Trophies Invitational last weekend.

For the girls team, Helena Hyde tied her school record in the high jump by clearing 5-feet 4-inches to win. Hyde has the highest jump in the state this season.

Ellie Noonan jumped 10-feet 6-inches, also tying the school record, to win the event. Noonan also owns the highest jump in the state this season.

The all-freshmen 4x200-meter team of Gabby Peasley, Emma Pearse, Evelyn Kenny and Charlotte Farrell finished second at the invitationals.

Claire Collins ran a personal best by 20 seconds in the 3,000-meter race and placed third.

The 4x800-meter relay team of Mia He, Faith Barrass, Sophie Halloran and Ellie Cambria placed fifth while the team of Shelby Gasbarro, Isabel Sander, Estelle Mentzer and Ginevra Girardello placed right behind them in sixth.

Kittie Wang had new personal bests in the 20-pound weight throw and the shot put.

In the long jump, freshman Evelyn Kenny had her best jump of the season — 15-feet 1.75 inches.

For the Barrington High School boys team, two runners set new school records at the World Trophies Invitational.

Wind was crowned 55-meter hurdles meet champion — he broke the 2024 school record of 7.49 previously held by Ethan Knight, with a new record time of 7.48 seconds

Myles Napolitano’s time in the 3,000-meter race broke the 2022 school record of 8:52.58 previously held by Brandon Piedade. Napolitano’s new record time is 8:51.45.

Adams also placed fifth in the 25-pound weight throw event at the meet.
