East Bay Democrats kick off the season with a community social at The Guild

Posted

The Democratic Town Committees of Bristol, Warren, and Barrington are coming together to host a laid-back, community-focused event to welcome the summer season on Sunday, June 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Guild, 99 Water St., Warren. This will be an evening of camaraderie, conversation, and connection — no speeches, no fundraising, no pressure. The only ask of people is to bring non-perishable food items to be collected and donated to the East Bay Food Pantry.

This isn’t a rally or a campaign event. It’s a chance for like-minded East Bay neighbors to gather in good company over craft beer, great local food, and meaningful conversation. Expect to see familiar faces and meet new ones, including local and state elected leaders, in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

“We’re excited to strengthen our partnerships across the East Bay,” said Erich Haslehurst, Chair of the Bristol Democrats. “This is about coming together as a community and enjoying each other’s company, with no agenda other than building relationships and sharing ideas.”

Everyone is welcome — Democrats, progressives, and anyone interested in connecting with like-minded folks in a casual setting. Whether you're new to the area or a lifelong local, it's a perfect opportunity to meet some new East Bay residents and kick off the season in style.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
