Eduardo Soares Medeiros, 75, of Connecticut and formerly of Bristol, passed away on Aug. 14, 2021, at Backus Hospital in Norwich, Conn. He was the husband of Rosa (Ferreira) Medeiros.

Eduardo Soares Medeiros, 75, of Connecticut

Eduardo Soares Medeiros, 75, of Connecticut and formerly of Bristol, passed away on Aug. 14, 2021, at Backus Hospital in Norwich, Conn. He was the husband of Rosa (Ferreira) Medeiros.   

Born in Relva, St. Michael, Azores, Portugal, he was son of the late Manuel Medeiros Constancia and Silvana Soares. In addition to his wife Rosa, he is survived by his son, Robert Medeiros and his wife Patricia of Plainfield, Conn., and granddaughter, Jacqueline Medeiros. He was the brother of the late Jose Medeiros, Manuel Medeiros, Francisco Medeiros, Bento Medeiros and Maria Pacheco.

Mr. Medeiros was educated in Portugal and employed by Pearson Yachts and Scott Brass before retiring.

His funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 20, at 10 a.m. from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High St., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood St. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
