Four familiar faces, and three challengers, have won election to the non-partisan Tiverton Town Council, where all seven seats were open, pending the resultd of mail ballots which have yet to be counted.
With all eight precincts reporting and early voting results added to the total, Tiverton voters sent back four of the five incumbents seeking re-election — John G. Edwards V, Deborah G. Janick, president Denise deMedeiros and David Paull. But incumbent council vice president Michael Burk broke the incumbent streak, placing eighth in the 10-person race with 7.7 percent of the vote.
Instead, challengers Craig R. Committo, the second highest vote getter, David Perry and Blake Hayden all won seats.
Edwards was the top vote getter with 3,527, beating Committo for the top spot by more than 500 votes. Seventh place finisher Blake B. Hayden finished 125 votes ahead, earning 2,407 to Burk’s 2,282.
Tuesday evening’s results will not be official until mail ballots are tallied, and the results certified by the board of canvassers.

Deborah G. Janick: 2,936 votes (10.9 percent)
David Perry: 2,703 votes (10.1 percent)
Denise deMedeiros: 2,696 votes (10 percent)
David J. Paull: 2,625 votes (9.8 percent)
Blake B. Hayden: 2,407 votes (9 percent)
