Free guided bird walks on Sundays throughout the year

Posted

Norman Bird Sanctuary is hosting free guided bird walks every-other Sunday throughout the year. Count up as many bird species as you can, from soaring red-tailed hawks to tiny hovering hummingbirds. You'll learn how to identify common year-round residents and seasonal migrants.

This free public program requires no registration, and will meet in the Norman Bird Sanctuary parking lot ten minutes prior to the walk. In the event of inclement weather, an announcement that day will be made on our website determining whether the walk will continue or not.

All birding levels welcome. Binoculars are helpful but not required.

Walks are every-other Sunday throughout the year, from 8 to 10 a.m.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
