A series of fundraiser meat raffles run by Hometown Tavern located on Metacom Avenue in Warren concludes over the next few weeks on Saturdays, April 26 and May 3.

Taking a cue from a similar successul effort publican Sharon McCarthy offers at another of her establishments, the 133 Club in East Providence, the meat raffle is exactly that and a bit more, a game of chance to win various meats as well as other prizes.

Early-bird tickets sell from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Each bought comes with a bonus free ticket as well.

The first tab is pulled at 2 p.m. and includes four separate raffles: Electronic & Gift table which features items such as TV's, air fryers, lottery tickets, various electronics and other gift items; Meat & Lobster Raffle - Two tables filled with various meats: Lobsters, Prime Rib, Beef Roast, Pork Loins, Hams, Turkeys and much more; Special Table Raffle - Valued at over $600. A sampling of some of the meats, ham, and turkey from the main tables; and a 50/50 Raffle - half of the amount collected goes to the winner and the other half to the charities.

The latter is the key element of the event, charity. The local Hometown Tavern raffle benefits the Benjamin Church Senior Center, the Bristol Fire Ladies Auxiliary and the Bristol Warren Educational Foundation.

Lastly of interest, anyone who comes for lunch to the Hometown Tavern during the week also receives a free ticket for the next meat raffle. The tavern is open seven days a week for lunch starting at 11:30 a.m.
