On Thursday, April 17, Gallery Night Providence will offer five free guided tours of Providence art spaces.
Four tours (5:00, 5:15, 5:30, and 6:00 p.m.) depart from the Graduate Hotel on Dorrance Street. The 6:30 p.m. tour will depart from the WaterFire Arts Center on Valley Street. The 5 p.m. tour is the first walking tour of the season, with all other tours conducted via mini coach or trolley.
Gallery Night partner galleries also welcome individual visitors that evening free of charge.
The Angell Street Galleries, one of the stops on the 5:30 tour, will be hanging their Spring Exhibition during Gallery Night, so visitors will be able to witness behind the scenes action. Featured artists include Heather Feiring Binder, Ian Cozzens, Kathy Hodge, Sarina Mitchel, Lev Poplow, Robert Snowden, and Anna Shapiro.
Fashion and fabric are the theme at several art spaces on the April 17 Gallery Night.
At Pretty Snake (6 p.m. tour) artist, fashion and textile designer Joseph Aaron Segal presents the spring/summer collection inspired by natural wonders and oddities. At Kreatelier (5:30 p.m. tour) they celebrate 150 years of Liberty London with a presentation about iconic textile and wallpaper designs and at City Hall Galleries (5 p.m. tour) the exhibit is “Love Thy Neighbor” by fashion designer Maria Grace, a vibrant community celebration of peace, love, and culture.
This is the last Gallery Night before the Art of French Wallpaper exhibit at the RISD Museum closes on May 11. The RISD Museum is a stop on the 5:15 tour.
