Gallery Night Providence hosts final two events of 2024

This Thursday, Nov. 21, will be the final Third Thursday Gallery Night of 2024, with 6 free guided tours to 20 art spaces throughout Providence. All 20 galleries are free and open to the public that evening.

On Thursday, Dec. 5, Gallery Night will partner with The Avenue Concept (TAC) for a special event. The evening will include art tours to small work holiday sales at partner galleries and a downtown public art activation, kicking off Providence’s Three Nights of Light Celebration.

On the November Gallery Night, four tours will leave from and return to the Graduate Hotel, with two tours that evening departing from and returning to WaterFire Arts Center. Paper Nautilus Books, a stop on the 5:30 tour, presents “Contours of Change,” by Margie Butler, a collection of paintings and mixed media works that are dynamic yet soothing to view and touch on themes of growth, duality, and process over product. CIC Providence, a stop on the 6 p.m. tour, is hosting a pop-up gallery at Venture Café Providence through the Artists of CIC initiative. This exhibit, “Roots and Routes,” invites artists to reflect on the paths we’ve traveled and the origins we carry within us. It explores themes of transition, growth, and connection to self, heritage, and community. Bannister Gallery at RI College, a stop on the 6:30 tour, will present an artist’s talk by Richard Whitten for those visitors wishing to explore the exhibit, “Objects of Wonder,” on their own.

The Dec. 5 event is the second in a three-part series, “Gallery Night + The Avenue Concept: Experience the Best of Both!” with an additional event on March 20, 2025, the first Gallery Night of the 2025 season. The series creates the opportunity to attract new and returning visitors to Providence by supporting collaborative arts programming by two arts non-profits with records of creating engaging, free art experiences for diverse public audiences. It is funded by the RI Commerce Destination & New Attractions Tourism Grant Program.

The full schedule for Nov. 21 with details on how to participate in tours or to visit on one’s own can be found on Gallery Night Providence’s website.
