On Thursday, Oct. 17, Gallery Night will offer seven free tours to indoor and outdoor art spaces throughout Providence. The first tour of the evening departs at 4:30 p.m., and is a walking tour, with the remaining tours conducted via mini coach or trolley. The last tour begins at 6:30 p.m., and all tours this month depart from the Graduate Hotel on Dorrance Street.
The Oct. 17 event is the first in a three-part series “Gallery Night + The Avenue Concept: Experience the Best of Both!”, with additional events on Dec. 5, 2024, and March 20, 2025. The series creates the opportunity to attract new and returning visitors to Providence by supporting collaborative arts programming by two arts non-profits with records of creating engaging, free art experiences for diverse public audiences. It is funded by the RI Commerce Destination & New Attractions Tourism Grant Program.
All seven tours will culminate with a stop at The Avenue Concept (TAC) Murals She Never Came / Salt Water / Empire Rising. TAC will host a Pop-up at the Mathewson Street Lot, sharing stories of three spectacular murals: Garden of Journey’s Salt Water, BEZT’s She Never Came and Lauren YS’s NEW PVDFEST commissioned mural “帝国崛起 (Empire Rising)”. The Pop-up will feature a parking space takeover, illuminated and animated murals, art chairs by local artists, and complimentary cocoa & coffee.
Additional work from The Avenue Concept will be included along the way on each tour.
The full schedule for Oct. 17, with details on how to participate in tours or to visit on one’s own can be found on the Gallery Night Providence website.
