Nearly 900 runners set off on a 13.1 mile challenge under cool, overcast skies at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 28.
The race started and ended at Independence Park — in between, the course took runners on a tour of Bristol, featuring several punishing hills on the south end of town.
Top male finisher was Ian Tibbals of Rye, New York, with a time of 1:12:03. For the second year in a row, Kelsi Chappell of Portsmouth was the top female runner with a time of 1:24:56.
“Running in Bristol was a great experience,” said Tibbals. “Everyone at the race was so friendly and supportive. While the course had some challenging hills by the Mt. Hope Bridge, the cool, cloudy conditions really helped me keep my pace. Finishing in Independence Park, backdropped by the harbor, was a wonderful way to cap off a very memorable run.”
