Henriqueta “Henrietta” Maria Araujo, 74, of Bristol

Henriqueta “Henrietta” Maria (Botelho) Araujo, 74, of Bristol passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 22, 2021, in Providence. She was the wife of the late Luis C. Araujo.

Born in Relva, Sao Miguel, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Ana (deSousa) and Manual Botelho.

She took great pride in her work as a seamstress. Later in life she was employed at Silver Creek Manor for many years before retiring. Henrietta was a communicant at St. Elizabeth Church in Bristol. She participated in many religious prayer groups in the area. She loved to cook and bake for her friends and local bake sales for charity.

She was a selfless, kind and caring person who could never say “No” to anyone. She cherished her family, especially her granddaughters. She had a heart of gold.

Henrietta is survived by her daughters, Lucy M. Bettencourt (David) of West Warwick and Caroline M. Newbegin (Troy) of Tennessee; her grandchildren, Victoria E. Newbegin, Kaitlin T. Newbegin and Emily G. Bettencourt; and her sisters, Maria deCarmo Duarte and Ana Moniz. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and extended family members.

In addition to her husband and parents, Henrietta is also reunited with her sisters, Leonilde Pereira and Margarida Mello.

Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at a.m. in St. Elizabeth Church, 577 Wood St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name can be made to either St. Elizabeth Church, 577 Wood St., Bristol or to Hope Hospice, 1085 North Main St., Providence.
