Holiday Lights Spectacular at the zoo

Grab an adult beverage or hot chocolate, roast some s’mores, and stroll through 40 acres of illuminated pathways. It’s a winter wonderland with over 3.5 million twinkling lights. Santa will visit on Thursdays in December until Christmas.

WHAT: Holiday Lights Spectacular

WHEN: Nov. 29 to Jan. 4 from 5 to 9:30 p.m. (Closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day)

WHERE: Roger Williams Park Zoo, 1000 Elmwood Ave., Providence

COST: $14 adults, $12 ages 2 to 12. Tickets are timed-entry and online in advance only. Santa visits free to families with a ticket for the 5 or 6 p.m. time slots.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
