The Mt. Hope High School basketball teams began its 2024-25 regular seasons in recent days, the girls opening with three games and the boys a pair.

The Huskies began their Division II girls' slate with three games during opening week, including a 50-22 victory over Mt. Pleasant at home, a 44-30 loss to Narragansett on the road and a 44-14 win also in Bristol over Toll Gate.

The Mt. Hope boys split their first two outings, losing on the road to Cranston East then opening their 2024-25 home schedule with a 71-63 victory over Central Falls in a Division III league matchup on December 19.

More girls' notes

Lilly DeSilveira and Emily Moran paced the locals in their initial victory over the Kilties with 17 points apiece. Hailey Ferreira added seven, Adriana Botelho six and Catherine Frawley three.

DeSilveira completed a double-double with 10 rebounds. Moran had nine boards, Ferreira eight and Botelho six. Maddy Butterworth had six assists and five steals.In the setback to the Mariners, Moran led the way with 13, DeSilveira had eight, Ferreira five and Botelho four.

DeSilveira led the locals in their victory the Titans with 11. Moran and Frawley added 10 each. Ferreira had eight and Botelho five.

More boys' notes

In the home win over the Warriors, Matt MacDougall led all scorers with 27 points scored at the basket along with Maleaq Roderick added 14. Lucas Andreozzi from the point guard position had 13. Jack Thompson had a double-double, 12 points and 10 rebounds. Jaedyn Owens had seven points and TJ Castriotta really stepped up on the boards.

In their season-opening loss on the road to Cranston East, December 14, in a matchup with the D-I Thunderbolts,. Thompson led the locals with 18 points. MacDougall had 15, Andreozzi 13 and Roderick eight.
