Greenvale Vineyards will host the 23rd annual Jazz for Kids from 1 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20 Part of the annual Newport Winter Festival. Greenvale’s Jazz for Kids program was created 24 years ago as a way to introduce children to the sounds of jazz in a fun and creative environment.

Musicians this year will be vocalist Tish Adams, Yvonne Monnett, on keyboard, Vinny Pagano on drums and Dennis Cook on sax. The musicians will entertain our guests with songs kids know and love in a jazz setting incorporated with old time standards. This event is free and open to the public. Complimentary refreshments will be served for the kids, and wine tastings are available to purchase for adults.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
