To the editor:

It seems apparent that there are a few people who are members of both the Fourth of July Committee and the Christmas Festival Committee. Their inability to do math correctly is a dead giveaway (unlike a will).

In reference to front page article on Grand Illumination, and I am sure the writer presented to us, the reader, what was presented to her with respect to a bit of history with respect to holiday celebration … First, this was our 35th celebration, allowing for last year to be counted, and our 34th ANNUAL Christmas celebration founded in 1987, and begun that year, with myself, Dotty Cordeiro, and I   apologize for not remembering others as founding members.

Some of the current members (of both committees) will also, within a month or so, be flooding the papers with erroneous statements that the Fourth Committee is preparing for its 238th annual celebration. It is not. It will be our 238th year of celebration.

Also, how about returning to selecting a boy and girl to light the tree. It doesn't require a cast of thousands, and it was nice having those two spotlighted.

Not to be ignored, a great big thank you for all the entertainers on outstanding performances.
