Letter: Barrington will hold a special place in our hearts

To the editor:

Dear Barrington community, as my family packs up to move and prepares to embark on the next chapter of our lives, we wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for the seven incredible years we’ve spent in this remarkable town. Barrington has been so much more than just a place to live—it has been our home, our community, and a source of countless cherished memories.

When we first arrived here, we were greeted by the warmth and kindness of neighbors who quickly became friends. Over the years, we’ve come to deeply appreciate the unique sense of belonging that defines this town. From the local events to the quiet beauty of the surrounding landscapes, Barrington has offered us a lifestyle rich with connection and purpose.

To the schools, thank you for the dedication and care you’ve shown to our children through these years and the numerous school hallways that they walked. The teachers and staff have not only educated, but inspired, fostering their curiosity and helped them all grow into wonderful kids. I am sure we still have checked out library books from Nayatt School that we will find as we unpack in our new home. We will do our best to return them.

To our sports community, especially Barrington Flag Football and East Bay Lacrosse. The opportunities provided through these community activities have shaped my kids in ways that words cannot fully express. It has allowed my children to feel the connection of teamwork and the fulfillment of winning and losing as team.  It will help shape their lives both on and off the fields in the years to come.

To our friends and neighbors, thank you for welcoming us with open arms and making us feel part of something bigger. Whether it was sharing laughter at Bluewater, a high five at the school pick up lines, or simply exchanging a friendly wave as we passed each other on the street, the connections we’ve built here are something we will carry with us forever.

Though we may be moving on, Barrington will always hold a special place in our hearts. It has been an honor to be part of this community, and we leave with immense gratitude for the friendships and experiences that will stay with us forever.

Thank you for welcoming us, supporting us, and allowing us to be part of your story. We wish Barrington nothing but the best in the years to come.

With deepest appreciation,

The Hoaglands
