Letter: Bonuses for vaccines is outrageous

To the editor:

The idea of giving $3,000 bonuses to State workers to get COVID vaccinations is outrageous.

Why should they require rewards for fulfilling (what in my opinion) is their civic and moral responsibility? Does the Governor think that the personal and/or religious beliefs of the non-vaccinated can be altered for a price? And what does that say to the rest of us that chose to be vaccinated promptly when first offered the opportunity? Maybe we all should have held out for the cash? How many additional lives would have been lost to COVID if that was the mindset of our citizens?

This is a dangerous policy to enact. Are our politicians so influenced by the labor unions in RI that they must resort to this? This proposal is disgraceful, please do not support it!
